last week has probably been the worse most traumatizing weeks of my life
i possibly am more fragile that i thought..
i should be stronger and not let the little things get to me but sometimes it's tough

i think i came out of that looking something like this :

all shaken and broken with the bruises to prove it..

now to somehow put all those pieces together and fix what's left that hasn't yet fallen away..

thank you for trying to make up for it with the little presents..

sitting across R from dinner it finally hits..
it is time to say goodbye..
the end of an era. time to say goodbye to our innocence.

and i still wonder how the years manage to run us by. i said we should definitely have been there for each other more often than we have. and at the moment you leave me with a feeling of elated lows..
he looks at me and says.
"you've been there more often than you realize. if not we wouldn't be here now. we'll meet again i promise, once we conquer the world and have the stars under our feet.and trust me my love nothing will change even then."

I've not had the initiative to write in a long while simply because work has eaten up my life.
My eyebags already cover half my face and i probably go a lil overboard as i reach for those eye creams and face masks.
The prettier and more unreadable the packaging is in japanese/taiwanese the more i love it and swear it works wonders.
Sometimes the crazy does bubble up in the most unexpected ways.

and pssttt... i can't wait for the 25th of June.

we're going to run this town tonight*

I love long weekends because it is a break from the major workloads i've brougt upon myself.. Not that I'm complaining but there are days that I ask myself why.. Whether the stress is worth the $$$ and having to give up on a life. There are days that seem to go by filled only with work and sleep. I suppose due to this endless mundane cycle I rarely write or blog as much as I used to.

But this Easter break is turning out to be quite perfect albeit a little short.
most people have 4 days off, I have 2. Yes, it's the workload talking but at least 2days off in a row has at least made me feel human again.

Eve on Friday night with the girls, silk road last night and an entire Saturday of perfect weather dedicated to shopping my hard earned money
although my plans for a road trip had an unforseen kink thrown into it, and I had to cancel all my lunch reservations at least shopping sorta made up for it. Now I have a huge dent in my wallet, so back to work now...

it's the fella's birthday tomorrow.

however having to accommodate my crazy, unexpected work schedules and the fact that the restaurant was already booked out a month ago, we decided to celebrate one day early.

so i took him to the new movida aqui, and i have to say i definitely prefer it to the one on hosier lane.

The birthday man...

starters:

oysters with watermelon dressing

anchovies with tomato sorbet

there was one more dish of wagyu short ribs

which i forgot to take a picture of when i hungrily dug in. but it had the most amazing mash which accompanied it

main:

seafood paella

THIS WAS SO FREAKING GOOD!!!

although i was already full i couldn't stop eating it!! most definitely will go back again just to have this. i think it's so worth the money with the large portions and generous amounts of seafood.

for dessert:

we skipped towards bourke street. and although i was already stuffed to the brim the extreme hot weather today made me craving for this..

pistachio gelato and watermelon granitas @ pellegrinis

you are the one thing that i love and hate all at once

tonight i finally managed to get to gill's diner.

and the food was kinda amazing. between us we shared

~ deep fried zucchini blossoms stuffed with ricotta and orange served atop soft polenta and honey truffle

~ smoked eel croquettes with aioli

~ pasta dumplings with bay bug broth

the dumplings were a bit of a let down though it was a main

but the zucchini blossoms were really yum!! i've been looking for a place that served them and i found them really good.

dessert was the mini pecan pie at pie face.

if anyone has not been there it's really worth a try. my favourites are the steak pie which is really chunky and the pecan pie (although it is on the sweet side because of the caramel at least it comes in a small helping so it's not like you'll get sick of eating it)

it's really worth a go..

the fella liked the chicken pie i bought for him yesterday (which he only had for brekkie today) that he went back for seconds today straight after dinner..

it's one of those weeks where i only seem to feel exhausted and spent. but then again i don't really remember a time where i felt anything else.

where i just want to pack everything up and bid you farewell. because i am already so emotionally empty whereas you still seem to be constantly taking what you want without giving anything back.

at the moment, it's a continuous internal struggle with myself.

i'm trying to find a compromise between what i want and feel that i deserve, and that which i have. sometimes there are days that i reach a heartbreaking conclusion only to stop short at making a firm stand on things.

i suppose what i might really need at the end of the day is just a good holiday...

because when i begin to think that i already know everything there is to know about you, you can still manage to surprise me with the unexpected.

thank you so much for starting off the celebrations with the degustation dinner at attica and also surprising me with that present from chanel the other night out of the blue.

and now for some food porn~

i found that a few of the mains were rather disappointing, and this was one of them. peas in some broth, weren't that fantastic and truthfully tasted kinda like eating chlorofil.. urgh!*

i think out of all the mains this fish with almonds was my favourite one. i even attempted to steal some of kim's one coz i scoffed it all down really quickly~

followed by this steak with asparagus and cauliflower cream~
got pretty amused with this bee carving on the knife, coz i thought it was pretty cute~

truthfully the best part of dinner were the desserts~
this had cognac ice cream in it with mango and tangelo
violet ice cream!!! chef's version of a violet crumble.

i really like this one* but kim preferred the cognac ice cream one.

i wish they packaged their ice creams for customers to bring home!! i'd go back again just to eat their desserts..

over the weekend i trooped over to the NGV for the salvador dali exhibition. i have to say it is a spectacularly mind-blowing exhibition.

the amount of detail and hidden meanings in his work is genius!!

sadly i wasn't' able to finish the entire exhibition even after 3 1/2 hours so probably heading back there again before it ends over the next couple of weeks.

Somethings in life you just can't learn in school

i just attended melbourne uni's careers fair
and it was a whole load of bull and a good waste of 10 minutes of my time.
the entire room was filled with suits, with people only in the engineering and accounting firms ready to snap up wide eyed melbourne grads.

all i have to say was that it was g-a-w-d awful
where are the interesting people that are in the media and advertising industries?
where are the people that have something to do with the fashion industries?
i refuse to be chained to a table for the rest of my life facing some dull figures no really knowing what the f*k i'm doing.

only problem is i have my dearest mum breathing down my neck at the moment asking me what i want to do with my life.

shitty carreers expo at wilson hall sure didn't have any answers for me in the careers department. on days like this i think i should have gone to RMIT.

anyway, i've been away but i've definitely been up to things.
this saturday i'm shooting away for the things that will be coming up in p-sly's new line.
so watch out for that!

i swear, being emotionally black-mailed by a 6 y.o for 4 hours ain't all that fun..

2 nights ago : pistachio and garlic stuffed chicken wrapped in prosciutto and served with asparagus

tonight: 6 hour slow braised lamb shanks with mash

and for dessert: custard apple tarts <- tastes good but didn't look so good.. i made my custard a tad too watery and it didn't set!! crap

oh and i've also made kirsch liqueuer cherries which are being set right now. if all turns out well i'm making black forest cake sometime this week.

sigh*

last week, me and margie went to Squisito for their Friday night specials

usually held at the end of the month and for $50 you get a 5 course meal and all you can drink wine.

YES! i said.. ALL YOU CAN DRINK!

and the object of our affection was this, their dessert:

"tiramisu"

instead of using coffee liquuer they used lemoncello and mascarpone cheese with strawberries and berry syrup.. mmm

the food is really yum. very homey italian food. they only have it on the last friday of the month and bookings are essential.. so what are you waiting for?

sorry, not many pictures since we were so terribly hungry after work already.. but take my word for it, their homemade pasta is to die for!

thanks to all those that sent those hugs from across the ocean. thanks for all the love. those words of comfort came at the moment when i needed them the most.

i miss you guys so much too.

i forgot i was meant to work that saturday. i slept till 12.58pm. i was meant to start work at 1.00pm. i made the biggest racket jumping out of bed and making that mad-dash to work. arriving just 2 minutes late. that was a close one ~phew~ thank god i live just right upstairs.

must remember to constantly check am - pm programming on alarm clock. i set it for 12am.

i-so-the-smart..

and as every saturday goes i like walking over to Mr.Tulk just around the corner.

i love their uniquely designed take away coffee cups

as far as saturday afternoon brunches and coffees go i absolutely love this place. the laid back relaxed atmosphere, good food and most importantly good coffee keeps me coming back for more.

high on my recommendation list:

chicken cos baguette - must be toasted

their eggs - i've had their baked eggs and omelletes and both are equally yum

chocolate cheesecake brownies

their brownies are so melt in your mouth wateringly good and perfect with that cuppa latte.

*Mr.Tulk is beside the state library and it's entrance is on Lonsadale St.

lost and insecure..

this moment i feel like i've aged 20 more years.

and yet i've accomplished nothing.

i remember things way back when and it all didn't seem too long ago.

all my aspirations when i was 18 whether big or small seemed to have flowed down the drain.

i wanted a tatt. i still want one but haven't gotten it.

i would have graded by now and yet i prolonged the agony.

i would have a full time paying job and i only have a part time. which is not earning me enough. but when is it ever enough?

my dreams of writing and designing are moving nowhere.

and all the things i've lost or rather not found is making me question my decision two years ago. part of me feels like i have not moved on from that time. as usual there are the"what ifs?" yet there aren't many regrets left to ponder over. just that one big question that continuously lingers and pops up from time to time. especially when i stumble over fragments of the past i've not prepared myself beforehand to meet.

i can't go back i know that already. and if given the chance i'm not too sure that i even want to. but yet i don't really know how to move on - i feel like i'm stuck in limbo.

as lu put it to me: might just be better to get a car and crash it into a wall.

we might as least be going somewhere then - even if it is the end.

only if i can find that small pocket of serenity. of inner blissful happiness that constantly seems so elusive. even if it was a shred from way back then.

at times like this i even miss MrP.L. because the last time i felt truly happy was when he was around. just-great..

there are days when everything seems normal, ok.

it's-not-such-an-eventful day. then smack-bang, a piece of news that you can't dodge because you completely don't expect it comes flying your way.

the friends who you thought were friends one day, you're not so confident of the next.

the people you really don't want to have anything to do, consistently try to upset you and ruin your life.

one i'm chosing to forget because holding onto something like that is just not worth getting upset over. i've chosen to grown up. to not let petty things get me down. so yes, i'm moving on from you. albeit a little sadly, but i didn't choose this path, you did. it wasn't me who ruined your life. you did - all on your own. so don't go blaming those who just care about you.

the other, a lawyer's letter sounds just about right to deal with some people's stupidity. yes you, you're getting a lawyer's letter because i'm sick of being bullied, manipulated and letting you walk all over me. i just plain want to have nothing to do with you so i really hope you get the point and leave me alone a-hole.

ok this is just one of those things where i should have been given a manual about life because as usual, i am unable to wrap my mind around it.

there is a valentine's day where one is expected to plan and spend as lavishly as possible on their significant other. it's a day specifically targeted by marketing execs to celebrate love.

and that's entirely fine by me. some people say it's all gimicky and that you should celebrate love every other day too. but sometimes things just need to be special or else it's just plain boring. at least men (i'm sorry but they're the gender that tends to be a little thick) are forced by this reason to be creative.

on the other hand, if you don't have a significant other then what exactly are you supposed to do?
contemplating cutting your wrists in a deep, dark dank corner of a room does not seem like a pratical solution to things. *it's the second day with the highest rate of suicide supposedly.

i resent the fact that there is no such thing as a singles day. why is there no special day allocated to singles to celebrate their fabulosity?
is it not important to love yourself first before being able to love that significant other?

i walked into that flower shop just downstairs. the roses looked fabulous and for 5 mins i contemplated getting them for myself. it's a treat to myself to tell ME : "hello there.. you're special too you know!"

flowers and girls night out is, as always, therapuetic for the soul.

i didn't realize it, but i have really MIA-ed from this blog. this is partially due to my laziness and i blame the rest on all the things that have happened over the past month that has really kept me so busy that at times i think i've been swept up in some whirlwind.

R left melbourne for good. but this was the last night in La La Land when we were all together and i really like this picture a lot.. i'm really going to miss you my black-brother.

i don't think i can find someone like you who will tolerate my craziness then take me out for drinks to drown my sorrows and ice cream to cheer me up.
albeit reluctantly.. i foresee trips to east malaysia in the future just to visit him..

i think willyWonka finally realized that his excessive spending doesn't occur around me but it's because of his twin..

that's what Dr.G told me today while working for him this morning. my priorities..
i've lost sight of them. i've lost sight of so many things over the past year, time has managed to fly past me so quickly. and i will finally admit this. i'm scared.

i've put my mind to working on all the short term things that i've lost sight of the bigger picture. and i don't know what has happened. today for the first time i stood up my best friend who came all the way from kl for 2 hours. the old me would always be punctual...

the old me would have not put work over friends. the old me would make time for myself instead of constantly trying to sell my soul to the highest bidder. that's what some days really feel like now. and the old me would never have imagined me now. at 22 suffering from what some would consider a mid life crisis.

i'm clinging onto the very last threads of a social life. i'm trying so hard to keep in touch with friends so i don't alienate myself. i'm trying even harder to stay healthy. and above all i'm trying very hard to still be me and have all the things i want.

i want my cake and still be able to eat it, but it doesn't seem possible to want so many things in life. and i cannot, will not shave off more of myself than i already have.

i think i need a long break.

i've kept such a low-profile for the last several months that it's amazing that there are still rumors circulating about me. i will be the first to admit that over the past few years i've done things i'm not proud of and i've been called different things. but this one tops the cake.

because i choose to be a better person and achieve more in life i don't owe anyone any apologies. this accusation is so ridiculous that those who know me will never believe it. and those who know the truth can't help but laugh at it.
if you have a shitty life don't go around spreading rumors that aren't true because you are just too damn free. i can't help but laugh because it is just too damn childish.

absolutely fattening i know but it also tastes so good!!

Getting Healthy!

i spent the whole of last sunday with my head stuck in the orifices of caroma. what a spectacularly charming way to say i got acquainted with my toilet bowl and emptied my guts out. i had to do a double take and make sure that my insides weren't flushed down.

being sick means i've lost about 4kgs. and look like a walking stick figure. i suppose for those who are attempting to lose weight, they'll be starring daggers at me thinking :
bitch what the f** are you complaining about?

but for me i'm getting my arse round to getting healthy.

the first round was this superbly healthy dinner i cooked last night:
Fettucine with homemade tomato sauce + pan fried scallops
and rocket salad + garlic prawns + avocado crab

YUMM!!

and today for lunch i didn't grab mcDs

after all it was their motto that sold me :

also, even though i've been this sick i think that i've been a damn champion coz i still got 2 of my essays done in time and handed in. so i've cleared my way for a good round of doing what-ever-it-is i feel like this weekend.

yes it's just been a non-stop rollercoaster pile after pile of work to go through.
i'm currently going on 200 bpm and even though there are times when i think i'm reaching breaking point there is still no sign of me slowing down.
whether this is good or bad thing, i no longer have any clue.

this past two weeks i've gotten myself so many jobs that i've earned a total of AUD*xxxx* on my own. (yes that's a total of 4 figures). convert that back to RM and i'd be rich.
for a half-past-non-grad still a student. i think that's pretty-damn-good.

i'm thinking of a break. of going back even for just 5 days. after all now with AirAsia flying direct it costs less than my pair of shoes to go home. only problem is they have a very CB website. an idiot created and designed that bloody-non-user-friendly piece of crap.

if not a holiday to go home and party, my next investment is going to go to face-masks and concealers. the eye-bags are already making me look waaaay past my age. i suppose some eye-cream might help too!!

Running on adrenaline

it is undeniable, i have had blogging withdrawal symptoms. it's just the combination of being too busy and lacking the motivation that has led to this.
and as the exams are all going to be over i'm starting to get a taste of how things are just going to get more hectic from now on.

one good example was yesterday when i had to work, finish the corrections on my last essay, head to jacques reymond by 8.30 for dinner
which i must admit was one of the best dinners i've had in Melbourne and for $230 a head it was quiet worth it.
plus kim was being in the once-in-a-lifetime generous, who would give up on the offer?
wah wah lounge for Phreac's second event then back again to the uni books.
slept at 4 am

woke up at 8 am to hand in the final essay and start work at 9am.

plus tonight:

dr. john's farewell dinner at 6.30
drinks with fai (coz i've been ditching him numerous times this past week)
and then Se7en for more partying

i think i'm becoming damn champion
running on 150 bpm

yet i still don't know which direction i'm heading towards...

even with movies and tv shows that seem to portray the sex in the city lifestyle telling us that it is ok to be single, we are still continuously expected to look for Mr Right.
i mean honestly Aristotle with his we are all looking for the other half that god took away from us should be considered a thing of the past and an ideal irrelevant to our modern day society right?

sadly, even though i'm only this young, i'm continuously grilled by the nagging voice outside my head that wishes everyday that i would graduate faster get a boyfriend and get married.
this particular nagging voice has constantly reminded me of this:
women really don't have to be all that smart. as long as you're pretty that should get you a good husband so that you can live happily ever after.

i am graduating soon. i have a job that does support me at the moment and hopefully it looks good on my resume, and to top it off i hardly mooch of my parents (other than the uni fees)
still this doesn't make any difference. why? coz i'm single.

i use to believe that i still have plenty of time left. that i can still see the world and enjoy life. yet even Dr.K opposes this. he keeps telling me the height of your prime is when you're 25 and hopefully by that time you'll have a boyfriend that you have in mind to settle down with already
coz then you have 5 years to think about having kids. always try to have kids before you're 30.

geez. with all the work and study and what not, i still have to juggle a half-assed existing social life and still have time to date.
look at all the expectations to meet.
it's the age old modern day question that lingers. why is it alright for men to meet their prime at 40-something and have no nagging voices that keep telling them their time is coming soon!!!??

yes the world spins on an angle. nothing is perfect.
i just need to keep reminding myself that i'm not un-datable. i just don't have the time for it and i haven't found the right one. hopefully that pacifies that nagging voice..

you know no matter how much you plan, your best laid plans would usually be put to waste.
things never ever really go according to plan do they? and although it sucks, life's just like that.

i really wanted to run away. i really wanted to just finish it, get it all over with and out of my system. but instead i have to burn up all my plans. and although it's much easier to cry, scream and kick up a tantrum about it i'm 21. i'm suppose to be mature and just accept it and do my best to survive..

i love you that much and no matter how much i pray and hope that things didn't work out this way, what else can i say. i still love you. crap if i didn't, it won't hurt this much. it still feels like betrayal.
